Isn't it strange how we change everything we did...

2.18.2005
Post title has nothing to do with my post, but that lyric just popped into my head. Stay Or Leave has to be one of my favorite songs.

Well I might be hitting up Vegas this weekend. I managed to convince Sean to come along. We just need to figure out all the minor details like where we're going to sleep, and how we're going to get there. The small stuff. I might be able to hit a few drunk people up in Vegas for donations! I'm always thinking...

I don't think I'll be doing much gambling this weekend, but I'm sure I'll be doing lots of ogling...of food...at the buffets...mmm...mass quantities of food...yeah...that's what I'll be ogling...

I just typed way too many ellipses.

As an added bonus, I'll get to see Ryan again and meet Kate for the first time! I haven't seen Ryan since GG Park last year. I had a great time hanging out with him and Gerg. It was as though destiny had brought us together to be

The Three Drunketeers!

Good times. At least from what I remember, which isn't a lot. Damn alcohol! Anyway it will be great to see Ryan again! I just need to see all you other folk out there who might be reading my blog. If you'd be so kind as to email me you phone number and address, then I can start my stalking strategy. I'd love to meet all the gang from the addicted thread who I have yet to meet. Why does the east coast have to be so far east?

I have a race tomorrow about which I am really excited. I want to see how I do compared to everyone else. It'll be great!

That's all I got for now. I'm sure my brain will fart some more later.

I'm giving up my diet and my exercise routine, so I can become a glutton again!

Or maybe not.

These pumpkin seeds I'm eating though, could make any person quit their diet.

Shrinkage

Well I discovered something the other day that is somewhat disheartening for me. I was very overweight for a long time, and consequently my skin stretched around my stomach a lot. Well it stretched to the point where it won't go back to "normal," so I have this odd sort of gut that just sort of flaps about. It's not as extreme as some of the other pictures I've seen but knowing that possibly the only way I can get rid of this "belly" is to have surgery makes me sad. It's also very frustrating since I've worked my ass off to get my weight down over the last few years, and now I'm stuck with this belly. I hate to sound vain, but I want a flat stomach damn it! The most I can do now is reduce my bodyfat percentage to at least minimize my gut further, but at what point do I just say fuck it and realize there's really nothing I can do. shit.

Only in the Valley

I was up in San Mateo last night with a Sean, Leonard, and a whole bunch of other people for a trivia night at a bar called O'Neill's. One of the questions that night dealt with a game based on a 1972 movie that Electronic Arts will release for the holidays. Well there were actually a few people from Electornic Arts at the bar, so that sort of biased the question towards them...Have I mentioned Google is just down the street from where I work? I could literally walk 10 minutes and I'd be at the front door of Google. Gotta love the Silicon Valley.

Here's a weird article about a box that can sense the future and the "global consciouness". I'm not sure what to think of this because I'd have to see it for myself.

One of the satellites I worked on last year launched on Saturday.

XTAR

It'll take about 2 weeks to get into a geosynchronous orbit. From there we'll testing the satellite, and then it will be put into commission.

Just My Imagination

2.11.2005
I was listening to the radio this morning, and there was an article in Time about imaginary friends. The radio station had people calling in relating stories to them about imaginary friends they had had or that their kids had once had. As I was listening I realized that I didn't have one imaginary friend as a kid. I did talk to myself a lot, but it was all inside my head. I didn't externalize any of it. This seems sort of odd to me because I had and still have a very overactive imagination. I would come up with story lines for my toys, replete with bad guys, clones, android replicants, and evil villain's having changes of heart. This was part of my "Capatin Indigo" storyline which I came up when I played with my Lego. I had one psuedo-imaginary friend, but he was my teddy(who was actually a dog)bear. I had species issues. I would talk and play with him, but he was actually tangible. Anyway I just found the fact that I had no imaginary friends sort of weird.

This is an internal report done by the Air Force studying the feasiblity of teleportation. I only read the abstract, but this study looks really cool.
This study was tasked with the purpose of collecting information describing the teleportation of material objects, providing a description of teleportation as it occurs in physics, its theoretical and experimental status, and a projection of potential applications. The study also consisted of a search for teleportation phenomena occurring naturally or under laboratory conditions that can be assembled into a model describing the conditions required to accomplish the transfer of objects. This included a review and documentation of quantum teleportation, its theoretical basis, technological development, and its potential applications.

A nice bedtime read.

nuts!

Lately I've been putting trail mix in my cottage cheese, but it's a specific type of mix that doesn't have any peanuts in it. I really don't like peanuts that much, so I was ecstatic when I found this mix. The best thing though is that it has Brazil nuts in it! I forgot how much I love Brazil nuts. They were the only nuts I liked as a kid, and eating them again reminds me a lot of my childhood sitting in front of the TV trying to pry open a Brazil nut to reach the treasure inside. The first thing I do when I get the mix is eat all the Brazil nuts...hehe.

Senegal!

Hung out with Sean and Leonard last night at a bar called O'Neill's in downtown San Mateo. They have a pub quiz night every Wednesday so we decided to test out trivia mettle. We failed miserably, but we all had a good time drinking and talking about women and stuff. Guy talk...haha, I can't believe I said guy talk. Sean's trying to figure out want he wants to do for Liz on Valentine's Day. He doesn't want to do anything too extravagant because her birthday is next month, so he's trying to think of low key things to do. I suggested he cook for her, but apparently he gave himself a mild case of food poisoning the other night we cooked for himself. Leonard is acting like a girl, as he puts it, because he gave his number to this woman he met a few nights ago and is now waiting for her phone call. He's interested her, but he's doesn't know if he's interested enough to actually take the initiative and find out her phone number, which he can easily do. Ahhh, the wonders of dating.

Interesting story about planets made entirely of certain type of carbon, which could possibly mean planets with diamond cores:

solid as a really expensive rock

So if there were a planet out there made out of platinum or gold, some woman would be really happy. Imagine the setting for a planet sized diamond. Dude.

Who turned on the rain?

A nice quiet Superbowl yesterday spent with a bunch of friends. I was going to hit up Gina's friends party after because it was just down the street, but I got lost in the maze of streets that make up the hills in San Carlos. I really wanted to hit up that party because there were some cute girls that Gina brought over. There was a tall blonde who was totally smokin'. Damnit! Why'd I have to get lost?!?

You may have noticed a few more links at the top of my blog. These are all related to the team in training marathon that I will be running.

The first link is to Team In Training, the organization for who I am running.

The second link is for donations for my run.

The last link is a blog I made to keep track of my training progress for the marathon.

Please check out all the links and spread the word to anyone who might be the least interested. Every little bit helps. Thanks!
