I am man!
So a couple of weeks ago I ran a small 5k and happened to win it. Thing is though, this was the "Girls on the Run 5k." I, being the manly man that I am, destroyed all the little girls and some boys with my awe inspiring time of 18:33. All my running friends made fun of me for winning the race, but I took it in stride. I mean I get to say I won a race. I'm pretty proud of that even though the second place person was a 16 year old high school kid who hadn't run for 6 months. Yeah...
This Sunday is my big race, RNR San Diego. Last year wasn't too good for me. Although I ended up running a 3:36, I had a horrible time with the weather and going out way too fast. This year feels different though because I feel strong and confident of something really good. There's just this overwhelming sense of positivity about this race that I can't kick. For some reason I think I'm going to run a 3:06, which sounds like a good number to me even though it's sort of random. I really hope I can live up to my own expectations.
In other news, I signed up for a triathlon a couple of weeks ago even though I don't know how to ride a bike, something I took a big step of fixing tonight, and I don't really swim all that well. At least I can run. Thankfully I'll have a few months to train since my first tri won't be until September. I still can't decide whether I want to do an olympic distance or half ironman. I want to push myself but to what limit I have no clue.

I think I saw you at the Expo on Saturday. I signed up for the race that day after wavering about doing it since I hadn't trained enough for it. I managed to PR, though, with a 3:49.
How did you do? Did you beat last year's?
