Just type in my Bib #. My first half ever. It was an awesome race with perfectly cool weather. We got to run over the Golden Gate Bridge but it was foggy, so no cool views except that of a spooky bridge. I also got a cool shirt and hat. I like running.

I didn't know that

7.25.2005
I just found out that WinXP has the ability to show album covers for folders that have music in them. I happened upon this when I was browsing my music folder in thumbnail view and saw a few sporadic album covers for some of the music on my computer. A bit of searching on the internet and I discovered that you can use Windows Media Player to add more album covers, so I spent a majority of yesterday organizing music and getting album covers through WMP 10. I'm going to reupload all my music to my MP3 player after I'm done.

I also bought a few albums over the weekend. I picked up the new Coldplay, White Stripes, Jack Johnson, and Franz Ferdinand. I really like the White Stripes CD except for the song that Meg sings. She sounds like she got a cat got stuck in her throat that's desperately screaming out for help. Oh and the cat happens to be Yoko Ono's. I also really like the new Jack Johnson, good mellow music that makes me even more mellow than I normally am. Actually I'm listening to the CD right now as I'm typing in my semi-conscious state of pseudo-somnolance. Listening to Franz Ferdinand makes me realize why I like English music so much. Those reasons are wide and varied yet ambiguous and clouded in a shroud of semitones. I know I like it, but I don't know why. Well that's enough of a brain fart for now.

Another satellite tidbit

7.23.2005
Boeing just officially launched their Connexion in-flight high speed internet service. What's significant about this? Well the satellite they're using, Estrela do Sul, to provide the service was launched by my company. I tested the guidance control software and was also one of the orbit raising engineers that worked on this satellite. I thought it was nifty to see another one of things I have worked on in the news.

Catsup

I've been doing a lot of stuff lately mostly working and work with Team In Training. I've been working a few graveyard shifts lately so my whole schedule's been thrown out of whack. I don't mind working grave shifts because then I have almost the whole day to do stuff, but around 7 hours into my shift I get extremely sleepy and fall asleep. At least tonight is my last grave shift for a bit.

I've been made a web captain for the South Bay Team In Training team. I'll help in updating the website and what not. I'm really excited. One of the ideas that I along with a few others had was to setup a message board, much like nancies! I'm looking around at the various message board suites to see which one is the best. I'm leaning towards the one that nancies uses.

I've got a half marathon at then end of this month up in the city. I ran 12 miles last week, which surprised me because I didn't think I had it in me so soon after the last marathon. I should hopefully be plenty prepared come race time. I did some mile repeats yesterday and ran a 6:20 mile. I think that's the fastest I've done a mile. For cooldown I round around barefoot for a mile, which was really fun and kind of liberating. People looked at me funny though. Oh well.

DMB concert next month up in the city. I managed to pick up tickets for the first night, now I just need to find tickets for the second night. I can't wait though!

Go away

7.08.2005
Maybe if I close my eyes and wish hard enough, Tom Cruise will go away and poor Katie can live free again.

bampf

Bampf being a reference to Nightcrawler from the X-Men who had the ability to travel between dimensions. I wish Tom Cruise would bampf out of existence.

In light of the attacks in London

7.07.2005
A sort of related story into the psychology of suicide terrorism:

Soft Power and the Psychology of Suicide Bombing

Due to the IRA, London unfortunately is not new to bombings, so I have no doubt that the city will get through this. One big difference is the scale of magnitude of these recent bombings compared to the IRA's past attacks. I don't think I can ever recall an IRA bombing this large or widespread.
