Only at a wine tasting can you have a completely innocuous conversation with a woman about whether she likes to spit or swallow.

DMB is god

4.14.2005
I'm reading through some of the critiques of the scant "Stand Up" clips that have been released, and I can't help but notice how selfish some fans seem to be. There are a few fans out there who have this sort of amorphous blob of ideas in their heads that correspond to how they feel DMB should make their music. They want DMB to stick with their old style but evolve in a manner in which they see fit. i.e. they want the same old stuff but in new packaging, which is how I see some of the songs that were road tested this summer. The band also shouldn't evolve in such a way though that could be construed as selling out to the "mainstream." Heavens to murgatroid they make a song that becomes popular beyond the DMB "hardcore" fanbase and attracts new fans because although those "hardcore" fans say they love spreading DMB, they actually only want to spread the music to those who think exactly like them in essence keeping the music to themselves. Music should be shared by everyone. I also don't understand why some put DMB on such a high pedestal musically. They are not the epitome of musical genius but reading through some of the comments on nancies you'd be hard pressed to think otherwise. Now I know nancies isn't entirely representative of the entire DMB fanbase, but the scary thought is there are these type of fans who are spreading their DMB paradigm around the fanbase.

I just had to rant.

Well I had a chance to watch the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal between Liverpool and Juventus, but I decided to got out and play basketball since the weather was so nice out. We had a good game of basketball and won all of our games, which of course made me happy. However, the big thing that got me all smiles is that Liverpool are through to the semifinals of the champions league!!! FUCK YEAH! They went through on a 0-0 draw since they won the first leg at Anfield. I'm super-ecstatic right now. I say bring on Chlesea and then the finals baby!!! WOO!!!

Before I head off to sleep

4.10.2005
I thought I'd post about my weekend activities. Friday after work I headed over to Scott's place and from there we went to Sean's place. Bay Meadows, the racetrack near Sean's house, was having a night where they had $1 hotdogs and beer. I had already had a double pint of beer at Sean's house before we walked over there and then had about 6-8 cups of MGD at the racetrack. After the races we went back to Sean's house for some more beer and ended up playing of all things Jenga, with a virgin set mind you. Well we got done with that around 2am. I crashed at Scott's place because I was in no shape to drive, but I woke up at 5:30 so I could go run down in Santa Cruz. I know, I'm a bit obsessed with the running thing. I actually had quite a good run despite being hungover but with the carbs I had the night before I was raring to go.

I got back home, did some laundry, and tried to grab a nap for a couple of hours. I didn't have much time because Leonard was stopping by to pick me up so we could drive up to the city. We were volunteering for the International Beer Festival up in Fort Mason. Leonard is one of the managers for the volunteer organization that helped provid volunteers for the event. We picked up Sherry and Brett on the way too. Sherry and I poured beer for a brewery called Sudwerks. They're based out of Davis so the entire night we had UC Davis students coming up to us saying "hey, are you from Davis?" We had an awesome night and I had plenty of beer. I was addicted to this one seasonal brew Sudwerks makes called Doppel Bock. I couldn't get enough of it. I tried some other beers but Sudwerks was my poison of choice that night. After the event a few of us went out to a bar called Horseshoes near the Marina area. We spent a few hours there just hanging out and drinking. I actually didn't drink anymore because I probably would have thrown up if I did. We grabbed some post bar closing breakfast and from there Leonard and I headed back down home. Leonard dropped me off at my place around 4:30 or so. Yeah, I was a bit tired.

Today I did nothing except for a few errands. I'm going to sleep now. G'night.
