*yawn*

Well I got early this morning to go do some mile repeats. I showed up at 5:45 and waited around a few minutes and then saw another guy with whom I run show up. We stood around a while waiting for another guy who has been giving us running advice but he doesn't show up so we go off and warm up for a bit hoping that he'll be there when we return. After a short 10 minute warm up still no guy, so we head to the track and decide to do the repeats ourselves. The other guy I ran with just finished the Chicago marathon not more than a few weeks ago, so he was a bit tired aerobically. We start out and try and go for a 6:50 pace around the track. We hit that target just right and then do a lap recovery. We repeated tath three more times at around the same pace, but by the fourth time the other guy was starting to struggle. He decided not to do the last couple two sets of mile repeats and I decide to combine the last two miles just to get it done.

I start off and I already feel myself going way too fast. I come around the first lap and the other guy who is now timing me call out my time. My first lap was 95 seconds. I scream to myself that's just way too fast, but I can't seem to slow down and I come around in the next lap at about the same time. By the fourth lap I'm thinking to myself I wonder I can do this for another 1.6km. I finish my first mile in 6:34 and I'm not slowing down, which sort of surprised me because my mind said hey stop but legs didn't get the message. So off I go to do another 4 laps and I end up doing the next mile 2 seconds faster than the first. I did a total WTF after that. Anyway it was nice to see that I could pull that out of my ass after doing some relatively fast mile repeats beforehand. I can feel myself peaking!
