I wonder if there's a restaurant here.

why

Not a question, but a reason.

Speaking of English

The link below is to a pretty interesting webpage showing the roots of English language:

Timeline

The link need not be confused with the Michael Crichton book or horrible film adaptation.

I play basketball in half an hour. I'm excited. Yay!

How many handspans to the moon?

This is an interesting story I picked up from slashdot about hybrid cars and their advertised gas mileage.

Hybrid Mileage Comes Up Short

This part I found most interesting:
The 19-year-old EPA tests for city and highway mileage actually gauge vehicle emissions and use that data to derive an estimated fuel-efficiency rating. The EPA tests pre-production vehicles in a lab to simulate vehicle starts and stops on crowded city streets and open road conditions. According to the EPA website, "The tests measure the waste substances emitted from consuming the fuel, not the actual fuel consumed. From the measurement of emissions, EPA can estimate the miles per gallon achieved by the vehicle on average."

As more hybrid cars become available along with other alternative fuel vehicles, the EPA needs to update their testing methods to provide more reliable data to the consumer. I'm sure this issue will become more prevalent as hybrid cars become more established in the automobile market.

What to do...

So Cori and I have a few choices of things to do this weekend. First off we have the Castroville Artichoke Festival:

It would be cool to see a local food festival like this since we've never been to one. Also it's probably going to be a nice day, so it would be nice to be outside.

Next up is Boogie On The Bayou:
.
Contrary to what the image advertises, the festival will be this weekend. This will probably be much like the Artichoke Festival but with Cajun food.

And Last is Wired's NextFest2004:

This sounds the most intriguing, at least to me. They'll be profiling new technologies and other cool gadgets at the "fest." I'd go just for the geekiness. Cori said she'd be up for it. We'll see what happens.

Damn Sony!

5.11.2004
Yet another Sony thing I would love to have...

It's not like I watch all that much television to begin with but having the ability to simultaneously record seven programs is just too cool.

html is fun!

So I've been cleaning up the code for my blog and adding some new features. I hope it all works well.

Great weekend. Went to a baseball game that we never saw but had a great time hanging out with people. Here are some pictures to this weekend's festivities.

I have a horrible sandal tan. It looks like I have Nike swooshes on my feet. Cori got a weird tan on her feet too. Although her's is somewhat more odd that mine in that her tan marks look like a flower. Picture not available unfortunately.

In other news, I want this:

That's about all I have for now...
