Ah, it's the weekend again!
I played poker with the guys on Wednesday night. Just the four of us but there's something about shooting the shit with guys that's just cool.
Didn't get to go out with Gina last night because she couldn't get out of work early. Reschedule there, but I'm going to see her tonight since it's another friend's birthday.
So since no dinner last night, I went to see a preview of a movie called Coach Carter with my roommate. He got a free pass from a friend with whom he works. The movie is sort of like Stand and Deliver, or Lean On Me in terms of how it revolves around a bunch of misfit kids who have a lot of potential but need a guiding and disciplinary influence to bring out that potential. It started rather quick, but it settled into a nice pace after. I think if they had extended the intro a bit to further illustrate just how bad the Richmond bball team was, it would have made their turnaround into an undefeated team that much more amazing. I also thought that the movie was a bit too neat and formulaic. I was half expecting a montage showing their training and progress, and at the end they would be great basketball players. I don't think there was one, but this sort of movie almost needs one. Anyhow, I liked the movie. I got chills everytime a great shot was made or when they won a crucial game. Not the best thing out there but it's better some of the other crap that's being made nowadays.
Signing off for now. This is Jay Jacinto reporting for Entertainment Tonight.
